Social Media Assisted Lessons
This week is a two for one special. In addition to offering up two Asset/lesson plans that take advantage of Social Media we will also introduce the Asset Series concept. This originally designed concept builds off the idea of Asset plans to further modulate and add true differentiation to the classroom. Each Asset/lesson is also accompanied by a student worksheet/digital handout and an overarching Asset Series plan. The Assets involved this week take advantage of the following Social Media to facilitate productive discussions between students and teachers. These discussions are critical for students when attempting to achieve the goals for each Asset. The social media tools used include:

Reflection through Social Media
There are three documents embedded here. The first document embedded below explains briefly what an Asset Series is before outlining the major components of the series that the second and third documents are a part of. The second document is an Asset plan that details a particular asset to be used to during an introductory lesson for the Reflective Process and the use of Social Media during the Asset Series. The third document is a digital worksheet/handout that students should be given during the introductory lesson. The digital worksheet contains an introduction for students and an activity that sets them up for success during subsequent reflection assignments. Composer Simulation Discussions
Grade eight students engage in a series of online discussions in the comments section of a WordPress blog page wherein they pretend to be famous composers and interact with each other in character. There are three documents embedded here. The first outline the Asset Series that the I am the Greatest activity falls into. The second document focuses on I am the Greatest and gives a thorough explanation of how to execute this asset.
